I let Raymond Depardon's images have their way into my mind yesterday night after I saw the movie he made with his wife, Claudine Nougaret. And then i woke up this morning with the weird impression and need to take a van and drive across French countryside. And i woke up with the strange need to learn how to see. To learn how to see the photographic beauty in the simple things, to learn how to see the world in 6x6.
Journal de France is more just a film about his way through France, it's about his vision and his work around the world. It reminds us that behind those big blue eyes & his natural simplicity, there's a great guy, a damned good photographer, founder of the Gamma agency & photo-journalism. It's a lesson about photography for sure, but about life too.
